I was just wondering what hobbies were popular out there on this sunny bank holiday weekend. Pity about the odd childish answer!

I like fishing, wildlife observing, and photography, i think fishing would be first, but if time is short, you only need a pair of binoculars and a spare hour to watch the wildlife out there.

Scrapbooking! It's the best because you are preserving your memories with pictures and the stories behind the pictures. I can spend quality time with my friends and learn about their families or other areas of interests they have. You can be as creative as you want with it, there are no right or wrongs. I love it!
My other hobby is Photography, love it too, it gives me great joy to document my life this way( good and bad times)it's amazing how much you forget but wiht a picture you can relive alot.
Good luck finding your favorite hobby!

Well yesterday was the first day this year I managed to get out and do a good days fossiling. The weather was lovely, the tides were just right and although we didnt find any fantastic specimens, I still got a buz cracking open a nodule to find a beautiful ammonite knowing that you are first pair of eyes to see it in over 180 million years. Priceless! Found some nice Whitby Jet as well, but the best sight of the day was seeing a baby seal pup laid on the rocks sunbathing, waiting for the tide to come in. He was so chilled out, he let us come within a few yards of him to take some great pics.
We took a picnic and didnt spend a penny all day(sterling).

I could not pick just one as the best, because each of these is part of me now, so, how do you divide pieces of your own personality? You can't!

1. I love to read, and I keep a list of titles. 2001-2007= 109 Titles (including about 10 volumes of poetry). I keep the list because I made a bet with someone last year who could read the most books in a month. I got half way then she quit, but I kept going.
2. I collect postcards. I have friends whom I penpal with and they send me cards throughout the year. But I also go into thrift/antiques shops and buy sometimes too. Usually I go for pretty scenery, or the same topics as the stamps I collect unless I'm on holiday, then I buy a few scenery cards where ever I am.
3. My sister is teaching me to crochet. I have finished one blanket that is fairly useful and pretty-- for a beginner, tho a bit lopsided on the edges, and I've started 2 more, both half complete at present.
4. I penpal as a hobby because in addition to sharing letters I also trade other items such as stationery and postcards. Yes, good old letters and postage stamps. There are clubs to find friends, and there are also clubs who strictly deal in email friends but I prefer the personal touch of a letter in the post box. ( Not that I don't email on occasion too!)
5. I collect stamps. I am fairly set on the ones I like (topical pictures) to buy or trade, but I also save postage off of my bills and letters and send them to be auctioned in benefit of an animal shelter.

I enjoy reading, writing, sewing, walking, making jewelry, knitting, bargain hunting, and a few other things from time to time.

The one that's best is whichever one I'm really in the mood to do at the time. When I want to watch TV and want to keep my hands busy, kitting is the best. When I want a new sweater and don't like what's in the shops, knitting's the best, too. When I need a quick gift for a friend or just want to 'play with my toys,' jewelry making is the best one for that. I can be extra-creative and put all sorts of things together just for fun, and see how it'll look if... and do whatever I want with it. When I want new clothes, sewing's best. When I'm bone-tired and need to lay down, reading is king.

It all depends on the mood and the needs.

It's nice just to relax, watching and listening to birds and other back garden wildlife, listening to classical music. Other than that, I do whatever I feel like doing at the time or a little planning for future projects.
