... she absolutely hated the engagement ring that her boyfriend gave her. She made him TAKE IT BACK and exchange it.
He asked me later on what I thought about that and having had a couple of drinks, I was truthful and told him that if she is like this now, how does he think she will be after they get married.
I just found out he called the wedding off that was to take place in August.
Was I wrong for butting into something that is not my business? I didn't give him any advice, I just told him what I thought. I do know she'll just about kill me if she ever finds out. She's a dear friend, but does give women a bad name.

Technically, you didn't do anything wrong because he ask for your opinion, and you gave him an honest answer. Besides, they probably had other problems besides the engagement ring situation. You didn't do anything wrong because it wasn't your decision to call off the wedding, it was his(he was probably hesitant anyway). However, you shouldn't mention this to your friend(even though it wasn't your fault) she would be hurt.

You weren't butting in, but I still would have kept my opinion to myself.

He does sound shallow though, or at least petty. You probably did her a favor.
Who needs this guy?

Well he did ask you but maybe you shouldn't have said anything. Either way I don't think it's your fault. He was probably having doubts anyway.

it sounds to me like you gave him really good advice. if shes this bad now, you just know his life would be hell later into the marriage. sounds like shes a real pill.

I agree with you and apparently he did too. I doubt he dumped her based solely on your reaction, i'm sure there were other factors, don't sweat it.
