Americans did what Americans had to do, and anti-American sentiment is nothing new. Although I am beginning to reconsider my stance on war in general.

You really don’t understand the American attitude. In truth Americans are, and always have been mixed on this subject. It isn’t that we are surprised that people don’t like us, it has always been that way. Rather, it is the growing realization that others do not place a high value on individual freedom. If that had been understood, as a country, we would have done things quite differently.
As part of that misunderstanding we have applied restraint in that there has been real effort not to include noncombatants in the aggressive actions. America could have (can) end any of these conflicts virtually overnight and no one could stop us. Strangely that restraint is not respected by most of the rest of the world and that is because our valuing of the individual is a concept rejected by the rest of the world.
It also isn’t a matter of energy sources based on oil. We can begin a nation wide program tomorrow and be energy independent within three years. If we did that many other countries (the oil producers in the Mid-East for example) would descend into economic chaos and revolution with untold deaths of their citizens. With current know energy resources (of a number of types) America has at least 500 years of energy.
However, America is learning and the call for removing ourselves from military involvement in the rest of the world is growing. The call to control our economic involvement is also growing. That is, doing such things as producing all our military needs within our own borders or, producing most of our consumer goods only within our own borders. Here too, the result on the rest of the world would be disastrous. Think that couldn’t happen? Just consider what would happen if America dropped both its business and personal income taxes. Jobs would increase overnight, consumer purchasing power would increase dramatically, product prices would significantly drop as product production volume increased.
We could also keep our schools only for citizens, which would drive down the cost of education and keep out tens of thousands of aliens who come here for education.
You don’t like us? Fine, but don’t gloat too much and wish for us to go away, you may get what you wish for.
By the way, I am not a conservative and have never supported either of the Bushes for President. If you understood the American people you would find my attitude far more common than you might believe.

Terrorism has existed for many years and in many different countries. Hopefully, you are not one of those that thinks America made the first move. If you are then take another look at history. Secondly, terrorism is a way of life for many and when they need to expand their movement to your doorsteps then you either open up and let them in or confront them away from your house. The middle east has been killing one another for centuries without any outside help.

Only the neo-cons expect the rest of the world to be grateful. The rest of America isn't blind.

A lot of us Americans are not surprised we are hated worldwide.
However... people fail to realize, the American citizens did not do this. This whole mess was perpetrated by the corrupt GOVERNMENT... of which the American citizens also disapprove.
We hate the situation just as much, if not more, than the people in other countries.

Sure after all we freed Iraq from a brutal dictator. Of course Saddam could keep the lights on so maybe his habit of killing his politically enemies wasn't so bad.

I don't recall the Middle East being in too good a shape before the war in Iraq, if that's what you're referring to. Maybe you think its convenient to start counting Middle East history at the time Bush took office, and forget that it was pretty much a hell hole of fascist dictatorships and terrorist breeding grounds long before that. Only then, the liberals blamed it all exclusively on Israel.

They should be happy we took out Saddam. They should be happy when we take out Amadenijad ???. The British made this mess when they made Iraq one country, the Germans made this mess when they gave Saddam all those machines to make WMD's with, and the French supplied a few military jets to Iraq I believe. As far as noone liking us, who cares, we don't need Europe.

If you listen to a conservative, half the time they think they are saving the world, and the other half they don't care what the world thinks.
What kind of psychological disorder is that?
