Why do people expect everyone else to be 'normal'?

This is probably the most difficult question I've tried to tackle.........

Why, its the way society has conditioned itself. Its a flaw in ourselves. As soon as somebody does something that is considered ' out of the ordinary ', they are sidelined from society.

Its a general way of thinking that has been embedded in our minds since childhood. This I say because I have watched a child grow up, and the free spirit that it has while still 1-4 years old is amazing to watch, yet a parent will scold that child in an attempt to discipline it. Simple things, like when the child is sucking its big toe, tearing up a page, playing with flour / mud.......etc. All these minor actions contribute to what becomes a " normal " being.

There are whole lot of other acts which the world dishes us which I cannot name now...........I hope you got my point.

And for what is being normal? psychological imprisonment

I don't think they expect everyone to be "Normal" as much as meeting a happy level, that makes life for EVERYONE acceptable.

I celebrate the differences, but I still expect people to respect and consider others.

I much prefer trend setters rather then followers, providing its not offending or hurting any one else of course. But some people are unable or unprepared to accept this level, thinking they are unique and no body else matters.

They dont. I am people. I dont expect Ozzy Osborne to be 'normal', nor do i expect Michael Jackson to be 'normal'.

I think i know what youre getting at. Youre asking why society dictates we should all act the same. I think its because thats what seems acceptable/ pleases other people. Its not making waves. Its getting along with others.

Just act how you want if it makes you happy. Theres always gonna be someone saying your acting inappropriately or abnormally....screw em.

Well, normal...there's 4 different definitions...but we won't go into that...
But, i don't understand why ...Well, noone is 'normal' because everone is different..but in England, people are expected to be calm, serious, smart...
Uh, it annoys me...if we were all content with ourselves it would be really good..i mean, non of us like standing in front of everyone doing presentations..So Why make us do it???!!!

There is no 'Normal' we are all different. There are ignorant people who believe we should all comply with their idea of normality. Such people are probably less normal than those who are able to understand and accept sexual and cultural variations in a balanced way.

Normal is different for everyone. It is what the individual perceives as normal depending on what they were exposed to during their lifetime and the lifestyle that has been created for them by circumstances.

i do not know im very strange in different ways and myself i think it is wrong people bully people even me sometimes! that is what people what they are. like example gays (sorry about the word)
not many people like them and that is way not many of them will tell you because they think you or people will bully them they can't help it, it is there feelings my mate came out to me he is a boy lover (won't say the word) it doesn't bother me myself it is him and im glad he told me i hate secrets i would rathur people be onist with each overit makes the world a "happier place" i would rathur have a friend that is a boy liker because he tells me the truth and he is onist about things i would rathur be the odd one out then to be a cabbage! i am right it is true a cabbage is all perfeact! and they think they are like that a cabbage. acturly did you now if you are strange an have a higher rate in making loads of friends because people might be like you strange and it is funny you make friends easier i think like i have 2 mates who talk about games i call them "gamaholics" (strange i no) :). it is there way so it easier to accept some1 then to be against some1. thank you.
