Turtles are not a pet like a cat or a dog. They do not like being picked up and are not friendly pets. You cannot punish a turtle by putting it back in the tank as someone suggested, they do not understand that way.

Leave him be, turtles are not cuddly pets and prefer to be left alone. Respect the type of pet you have and get a dog if you are looking for something to cuddle. Understand a turtles unique nature and love him for what he is, a reptile. it is no reflection on you that he is nasty, its just nature.

Playing with it stresses it out, making it less healthy. HEALTHY turtles do not like being picked up by giants- you would not like it if a 20 foot tall creature kept picking you up for no known reason, would you?

I'm not positive, as I have tortoises.
But it may be that he's not getting enough meat in his diet.
Or enough protein. Look online to see what they REALLY need, not just what your pet store says.
Many pet stores know little or nothing about reptiles; they're more concerned with cute, fuzzy animals, like bunnies, puppies, kittens, hamsters... you get my drift.

I think you could buy something to let him bite? Or keep him in his cage for quite some time to let him know that he shouldn't behave like that. And you'll see what happens.
