Happy for him, but do you really think a dollar more an hour would do that good? How many people make minimum wage, and more importantly, if they applied theirself, they would get a raise. Do you not agree that some smaller businesses would indoubtedly go under if they raise it a few dollars? How many people do you know that actually make minimum wage? If they are making that, are they in high school. The system is made up to get out their people what they are worth.
Honestly, if you think they are worth more, shouldn't they at least look for a different job? Would you work for that amount of money? No, but there are some people that are worth that. Go find the money, don't make these small businesses that are dependent on that amount suffer. How many people really make that kind of money? More importantly, why are they. That is the question. Not how much, but why.

Stupid Marxist posted a defense of CEO salary's yesterday,
he asked why liberals were so upset about the obscene salary's paid CEO's in America today, at first I gave off the usual litany of why right down to Lay, Ebbers, Koslowski, Skilling, and Nardelli, but he made the statement that CEO's are worth their weight in gold, I took a moment to do the math, Gold is currently going off at about $679.00 per ounce, 16 oz to the pound and let's say for the sake of argument the average CEO weighs 200 lbs, OK I'll pay him his weight in gold since it will save the company HUGE money, the CEO Would ONLY be paid about $2,172,800.00 annually I'll settle for that over $20,000,000.00 and invest part in pensions, greater share holder returns, and part in increased hourly wages for ALL employees WOW who thought I could find a place to agree with such backward thinking
There is light at the end of the tunnel though, investors groups like those DREADED Unions are starting to demand accountability and I think we're entering an era where we'll see these tapered back to a more reasonable level, as a result more will be available for stock holder retirn, pensions, infrastructure upgardes, and employee wages

I am happy to know that the Occidental CEO made 400 million. He must be worth every penny, since the board of directors sets his salary.

Are you jealous Chi, don't you wish you could get paid like that?
Obviously the shareholders thought he was worth that much or they wouldn't have given it to him.
He took a company that was almost bankrupt and turned it into a billion dollar a year profit maker.
Occidental's stock price went from $9 when Irani took over to $48.60 a share by the end of 2006.

We, Conservatives are not happy with that decision from this company, Occidental. What you are saying is that Conservative like to give money out like crazy, well, you are wrong. For your information the Liberals are the ones that think like that, not us. Conservatives want everybody to have a job and work. Liberals want everybody on welfare, etc. do you see the different.

Libs - I thought you were the 'progressive' ones. The Mom & Pop days are all but gone. You have had the same opportunities as anyone else. Why are you always so bitter against those who suceed? If you would quit listening to so much negative crap you would find it is not so difficult to work, invest, and produce more for your own family and others. Campare percentages of what CEO's donate to charity to what your Hollywood idols do.

It makes me want to pay a little extra at the pump.
It's sad that CA gas is only $3.59 a gal. If we could pay just $4 those BushCo's could get 2 million a day pay.
Go big Crud Go
And I just converted the ShortBus to Hybrid

why would we be? we gotta pay gas prices, and knowing he is swimming in $100 bills because of jacked-up prices is ridiculous
ok, you obviously hate cons, so ill explain why we shouldnt hike up min wage. u jack up min wage, and most other businesses will not be able to hold all their employees, so unemployment rates will go up. Those people would not be able to buy more than food and other necessities, so there would not be much money circulation. Uping min wage is one thing, jacking it up like gas prices is a good way to hurt the economy.

You could too if you developed his skill set. We live in a free market that allows people to be paid in relation to their service to others. He serves others better than most. Have you thought about moving to North Korea? They would welcome you and you could avoid seeing people make more than one another; everyone outide of the govt makes the same income there. Only problem is many die due to starvation due to the Socialist system but you might like it better there.
