Hi. First of all excuse my ignorance for not knowing this answer. In the cricket game which is being played by Australia and England.

Well if England got 247/10 in 49.5 overs. Can you please tell me do Australia play until they are all out or only until 49.5 overs? Is this game do they play until they are all out or just until they beat the target set by England? Does the overs part have anything to do with it?

Thanks so much for the help, this way I can understand a little but more.

They will bat for the maximum of 50 overs if they chase the target before this then the game is over and Australia will win, other wise if in 50 overs they cant achieve the target then England will win.

Australia can bat full 50 overs to reach the target set by England. However, if they reach the target in less overs, the match ends with Australia as winners. In case they are all out before reaching the target or could not reach the target till end of 50 overs, England will be the winner.

The game continues till Australia reaches 248 or till they finish their quota of 50 overs; whichever is earlier. So in this case Australis need to score 248 runs in their 50 overs for them to win. England on the other hand have to ensure that either Australis does not score 248 in the 50 overs or they bowl out Australia (take all the 10 wickets) within the 50 overs

The only time overs are reduced in a One Day match is if there is a break in play due to unforseen incidents, like rain, but only if both captains and umpire agrees and that it is a significant delay.
Because Australia bowled out England, they get the full 50 overs which is 1 extra ball.

They play until they reach the target score.....In this case it would be one more than what England got so it would be 248........ Or until they are all out.

If they beat the target then Australia win but if they are all bowled out before they beat it then England win.

Hope this helped!!

Oh boy,..
The only time overs are reduced in a -50 overs-One Day match is if there is a break in play due to
bad weather snow or rain..bad light..etc....
but only if both captains and umpire agrees and that it is a significant delay.
Because Australia bowled out England, they get the full 50 overs which is "One" extra ball.

Aussies get 50 overs. England had 50 overs to play, but they were bowled out before they reached this.

Aussies need 248 from 50 overs. As from now, they need 148 from 26.3 overs.

As an Aussie, gotta agree with you, The Ashes by far is the best test series to watch. I was absolutely shattered we lost last year. But nevermind, you blokes are going to get your arses handed to you on a platter later this year. Ha! Already have my seats booked for the Boxing Day test. I hope the English team show up this time.
