It is just human nature. You just have to rise above it with training (discipline), or you need to become filled with another nature.

Very few "mean" people are sociopaths and misanthropes. Most don't set out to deliberately harm others. It is just that they do what they feel driven to do to try to get rid of their bad feelings. It is a matter of pulling you down to pull myself up. When you get to the core of things, it generally comes down to selfishness and insecurity. Very often, it is not so much to hurt others as it is to "help" oneself.

It could come from "somebody training" and polarized thinking. Most of us learn at an early age that we are nothings and must do something to become somebody. A somebody could be defined as a person who makes straight A's, is thin, popular, athletic, charming, etc. To feel like a somebody under this sort of system, others must be nobodies. This does not foster help, cooperation, or closeness. By polarized thinking, I mean, if there is a good, there must be a bad. If there is a success, there must be a failure. So if someone is determined not to be a failure, they may try to see if they can make failures out of others.

For some people, being nice is seen as a form of weakness. They don't want to be seen as targets, so they put on a mean front to get others to leave them alone.

I think so many people are so wrapped up in their own lives and in their own little worlds that they sometimes don't even realize they're being mean because they're so caught up in their own thoughts. Others just don't care about anyone but themselves. Then some people I guess get a kick out of other peoples misery because it makes them feel like they have power and control over others. Then there are those who are just plain mean for no reason.

People are mean for different reasons....they think they've had a horrible life, they think they are so wealthy that they can control everything, they are insecure, etc. the list can go on for an infinity. But, at the end of the day it is up to each of us to set healthy boundaries for ourselves - whether that be against mean, cruel or unpleasant people.

That's what makes them happy. There are people in this world if they don't do harm to someone they are not happy. If they can't hurt someone they are miserable and they start to pout. Just laugh at them and walk away. Don't let them get the best of you. You are better than them that's why they are mean to you.

I don't know, it sure gets old though. I am pretty much convinced most people have no manners anymore. Some are just blantantly rude to prove they're better than you or something. Some just need to grow up, eh?

People are mean for many different reasons.
A lot of times, they are unhappy individuals themselves and want to take their unhappiness out on others.

It is either because they just don't understand or they are just naturally mean spirited. I always try my best to be nice, but sometiime people take it to far and it is hard to be nice. So then we are suposed to pray for them.

its an ego booster, it makes them feel special and important. it's a way to attract attention, it makes them feel superior and authoritative- seomthing they desire. it may be deal with their childhood- they were bullied on so they want others to feel the same way even if they are innocent. (my case). they're insecure and trying to conceal flaws abt them even tho bullying is a fundamental flaw. for fun, they like to piss ppl off, they like to cause all things evil. lots of reasons
