Not Silly at all! did you know that many authors keep journals of their lives?
I have a wonderful friend who is 42 and she has been journalling for years.... You should see her collection. She has been using nice acid free journal books, they have nice heavy paper and the binding is very professional looking. she paints the pages, include photos of her friends with discriptions of their activities at the time the photos were done. Includes play or concert tickets uses scrapbooking supplies to dress up her pages.
It has helped get through some really rough patches in her life.
Go for it, it's a very healthy thing to do, the person(s) who tell you it is silly are probably jealous that you do it and wish they could have the structure in their life that has allowed you to keep it up. I'm sure you children and descendants will enjoy getting to know you years from now through the pages you are creating now.

The Diary Ann Lolls
April of 2007 a question that will be asked many times in your life time..when to quit and stop writing?
I have a diary about my life in general and I stopped writing in it several years ago because I had to keep buying them. I have a box of diaries going back to 1969 and sometimes I pick one and read it and just look back on my life how stupid I have been and how far I have come and how intelligent I now am.
Case Closed.

You do what you think is best for you.

Some people over 18 just call it a journal, but lots of people have a journal to write anything or everything that happens to them thru the days. SO hey it's not weird it's just normal.

it doesn't matter if your writing in a diary/journal at any age. You know how good it is when you let everything that you feel out of you, your inspiration, your happiness your sadness. then when days, months, even years passes by and you go back to the book and read all the crazy things you wrote, that feeling- when you read what you wrote, it feels like your back on that moment. If is happiness- you laugh thinking about it and if is sadness - then you give thanks to God for giving you strength while going through it and for being in another time-happy

I think you should keep it going, I wish I'd have done it, I'm now 40 and there are so many things that have happened in my life that I've forgotten, my friends say "remember when we did this?" and I can't, but I can remember things they cannot so it's not just me.
When you're 62 you can look back on this diary/journal with fondness of when you were young, and as long as you don't write anything rude you can show it to your kids and grandkids. wish i'd done it, too late now my life is same old same old.

Nope, it's just a diary of your life. I think it's absolutely normal and interesting. If you can keep all your diaries until you grow old, you can always read them again and retrospect about your past life and how enjoyable it was. That reminds me, I need to start my own journal.
I think diaries keep you vivacious at all times. They keep your inner soul young due to daily activities. Furthermore, I think it's also a source where you could vent down all your anger, fear, and feelings. This way, you have "something" to talk to.:) In addition, it helps hone your writing abilities as well :)

I think it's a brilliant idea. I have a diary. What's wrong with that? It's great for releasing your emotions and if you're angry or something it's good for taking all your abuse! It's private too so no one will know what you're writing! Whoever invented the diary is a bloomin genius!

I don't think so. A true writer, writes all their lifes. Writing is good. And even if some people may think its childish. I don't. Even if I'm 14, having a diary is a good way to remeber important things that contribute to your life. (For example Anne Frank.) So keep on writing!!!
