The hospital will keep all the medical history :( I assume your medical history.) For instance how many times you were treated, how severe your injuries were. etc; if you are a minor under the age of 16 years, then yes the staff will contact social workers and if they think that you are at risk should intervene immediately. They do of course all work together to protect the vulnerable, but if they thought that you were at risk that is if you are indeed a minor( you have not given your age) they would have intevened by now and taken out charges against your mother, they do not need your consent for that as a minor. The fact that nothing has happened (Again I assume that your mother has not been charged), means that they do not consider that you are at risk. Simply if there was a risk to you suspected either by medics; nurses or social workers it would be dealt with immediately, these professionals do not usually wait just to build a case, especially the medics they are there for one reason alone, to help you and your mother, nothing else. Police and lawyers build cases not hospitals. If this was happening hospitals would be violating ( depending where you live) but here in the UK it would be a violation of human rights for the hospital to build a case against a patient or the mother of; in the USA I think it would be a violation of your civil rights. In the USA ( am I correct in thinking that when you go to hospital there is an insurance scheme to cover costs, it could be in this case ( I am assuming again) that the ER dept have to pass on notes to insurers to cover costs unlike the UK where all is free, what sometimes happens (if you keep presenting to hospital with injuries) is the insurers get fed up of paying and they ask the hospital to sort it by keeping notes etc of attendance, they in turn contact social workers, they as mentioned above remove the vulnerable from the home and the police are involved at this time. Not knowing anything else about your problem I can not advise, but I would suggest you talk to your mother about your fears, because obviously you care enough to come on line and ask a very upsetting question . Your mother must appreciate your concern. Honesty is always the best way forward with parents, I do hope that you can both sort this out without others invading your privacy.

Yes they certainly can they are bound to by law no matter what you have to say, EX: school teachers or anyone that are designated by the state to care for a child must notify protective services if they believe abuse is taking place, this is the same with adult care as well. This is true of hospitals, if any human was brought into an ER room and they had bruises or cuts significant of abuse, they are then liable for that patient as soon as you sign the waiver grant them permission to care for you are there liability they protect their butts and they dont need permission they call whoever they want regradless of what you say did or did n ot happen, abuse is criminal, any invididual who knows that criminal conduct is taking place has or should have the responsibility to report it, if you dont report violence you could be prosecuted, for aiding and abedding
This isnt in your jurisdication legally, it is a criminal act, and if they deem it to be so, then you call an attorney, keep your mouth closed, period the end, you can build a case for yourself and your mother if you run away at the mouth, trust me, you will see on your own, it is no longer in your hands so give it up, its in the hands of the state now
