Can someone give me links that can give me the History of Japan 1780-1820. No encyclopedias please. Links that end with edu, gov, org would be awsome!

i would suggest reading James Clavell's book The Last Shogun to get a feel for the Japanese culture. Failing that start here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Late_Tokugawa_shogunate

My apologies, Clavell's book (I also mispelled his name) was Shogun' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shogun_%28novel%29

The earlier page I referenced gives you links to all the periods of Japanese History.

Your question caused me to look up James Clavell and I am extremely grateful. I didn't appreciate him as he deserved. Especially for his book "King Rat"

Thank You!
