put the equations into slope intercept form y = mx + b

-3x - y = -3
-y = 3x - 3
y = -3x + 3

5x + y = 5
y = 5x + 5

graph the two equations. Where the two equations intersect, that's your solution.

You can graph both of these lines by finding their x- and y-intercepts. To do this let x = 0 and solve for y to get the y-intercept. Then reverse the process and let y = 0 and solve for x to get the x-intercept.

Line #1: Let x = 0. Then -3(0) - y = -3
-y = -3, so y = 3. The y-intercept is then (0, 3)

Let y = 0. Then -3x - 0 = -3. -3x = -3, so x = 1. The x-intercept is (1, 0)

Graph these 2 points and sketch Line #1. Do the same technique for Line #2.

When you get both lines graphed, look for their point of intersection. Check this point in BOTH equations to make sure it satisfies both of them. This point will be your solution.
