In the UK there are laws regarding the amount of tint allowed on the windscreen and front side windows.
There is no limit on the amount of tint allowed on any glass behind the front doors (rear screen, rear side glass).

Depends on the area. Tinting with film is usually illegal, because it will bubble and doesn't have a consistent viewing focus, it will be slightly fuzzy. Most legal tint ( ie, by auto manufacturers or authorized after-market tinting companies ) is by chemical deposition directly to the glass. There is also the degree of tint, it varies by area, in Washington, DC they use a light meter to gauge whether the windows are too dark legally ( lots of drug dealers use heavily tinted or blacked-out windows to prevent viewing the interior ). Yet, you see Limos or other high-dollar vehicles with almost black tint, but usually the manufacturer has paid off the Gov't to allow them to sell them that way. Poor Dick and Jane Citizen don't get the same respect.

It depends on the state. Each state has it's own laws regarding what is "legal" and not. Check with your local law enforcement to see what's "legal" in your area. A good auto parts store may sell tinting if it is indeed legal in your area. It is not easy to get a professional, wrinkle free job the 1st time you attempt to install it. You are better letting a professional do it as the cost savings are minimal by doing it yourself.

Not the front screen and the others may have a tint within certain limits. Get it done professionally as it will look naff enough even done properly and will draw the cops attention to you even if you are not doing anything wrong.

You can tint all the windows except the passanger windows and front glass. But there's light tint that can go in the front and passanger, as long as people(most likely cops) can see ur face.

It is open to interpretation as it can be said that your visibility is impaired. Obviously you can not do the window screen! I would advise you to get it done professionally as a bad job really makes the car look crap
