No, you handled it fine. Some people just should keep their mouths shut, but can't.

You did what I would've done, but my ending would have gone some more like, "yes, that was a painful time for all of us..be we have had to let go....alright you insensitive wench! ta-ta!!!"

Any kind of trauma and torture sticks with a person for a lifetime it can be let go the subject dropped but there are things that make you remember all the bad stuff i know i still remember alot of stuff from the age 3 and up. Not any of the good stuff either i remember alot of bad stuff and im 21 now and the past still haunts me from time to time.

I don't know whats wrong with people. I think some just have no quoth. For example I lost my wife and two children almost four years ago and just after it happened my brother in law said to me " I feel like I lost more than you did" what kind of a *** is that? He has a PHD and is very smart but still has no common sense

Maybe whatever happened didn't affect her as it did you. Some people don't think before they open their mouths. This may have been the only thing she had in common with you. As you told her, "We have had to let go." Do it.

I'm sorry you are so upset by someone so tactless. I am sure she didn't mean to hurt you though.
I think you did the right thing by pointing out the fact that you are still hurt. At least you made your point.
But please don't be angry with her. She might not have meant to distress you.

seeing as i don't know what the tragedy was it's hard to say but, if it was that bad, i guess you did the right thing.

People just don't have any sensitivity. You handled the situation well.
