You can put metal, but if you don't have your cycle set to dry by heat (and it just air dries) you will want to ensure that things are dried so they don't get rusty spots Metal pans are fine to put in, but it really depends on how dirty they are. If you have baked on grime, they are just not going to come clean in the dishwasher and should be hand washed.

I put everything in my dishwasher, except nonstick pans. I did put my gas stove burner covers in my dishwasher about once a week. I don't anymore because my new stove does not have them.

I would´t suggest you put the metal burner cover´s I did it once and they lost a lot of there shine , You can put pot´s , as for the metal plates , I think they will loose a lot of shine from them ,

plastic dishes, etc. are the only things you have to be careful with in a dishwasher because they can melt in the hot water. look on the dish (or whatever) and see if it says "dishwasher safe". it might specify top shelf only. make sure the dishes are pretty clean before you put them in, no bones or hard things that can't go in a disposer.

I think they will be ok to wash just once in a while. I do my pots by hand just to save the teflon coating but I have done them in a dishwasher before & it was ok.

Anything you can wash in the sink, you can put in thedishwasher, except for things like silver, and hand painted objects. everything you mentioned can go unless the cups andplates are silver
