I have an Epson Stylus CX6000 and the color cartridges go out way before the black one does. When I take them out I don't replace them immediatley so there are no cartridges in there but the black. Why can't I print something that is all black such as a term paper?

It's just evil that way. Sorry.

If you print in all black MOST of the time, you can pick a setting for that printer, so it doesn't try to use the color cartridges to MAKE BLACK. But this won't prevent it from quitting because the color ran out, it will just make the color last a bit longer.

Gosh, it's Easter... few stores will be open to provide you with replacement cartridges. You might try RiteAid.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

The printer will not work unless both cartridges are installed. I personally hate that idea too, but there's nothing to bypass that. Just leave the empty cartridge in the printer.
