The purpose of philosophy is to rotate your brain about the universe that you might understand it from many points of view in the hopes that your own understanding of yourself may deepen and become more appreciative.

The pursuit of knowing how the universe works using logic and reason, not faith. Really, it's just science, though philosophers contemplate the existence of a spiritual world.
A philosophy may also refer to a particular way of life or code of conduct.

Philosophy is the study of knowledge and pursuit thereof....it is the grandfather branch of all sciences and pseudosciences.
It is the greatest way to acquire the attribute of critical thinking, which an overwhelming majority of people do not have, and also the greatest intellectual pursuit one can pursue.
When posed a philosophical question most people say "who cares?" - this is because they are ignorant, are in denial of their ignorance, and subsequently engage in the logical fallacy of ad populum by convincing themselves that most people don't care so they shouldn't either.

philosophy is a facet of perception that provides mental stimulation in a non-scientific context.
it is analyzing the 'mind' rather than the 'brain'. it is an attempt at comprehension of the psychology and human behaviour that has not and can not be deciphered by science.
it is what understanding, motivation,
inspiration, aspiration, enthusiasm,
spirituality, judgement,
curiosity and decisions are made of.
it is that an explanation for the intangible.
