I have been around guns all my life. I have owned guns ever since I legally could. I have never used them in any illegal way, I have a clean record, and I once used a gun to stop a burglar in my home. Is there any justification in limiting my ability to protect myself? Ban all guns and they will go away just as fast as drugs did when they became illegal.

I do agree with you. I also subscribe to the school of thought that it is people who kill, not guns. The problem with guns, then, is not guns themselves but the people who handle them. I think that while guns should remain legal, gun restrictions are important. In the same way that someone has to prove themselves capable before getting into a car, they need to do the same thing to own a gun. There's no reason why citizens shouldn't be able to have their constitutional right honored and for others, especially children who are the ones who end up victims from irresponsible gun owners, to be safe as well.

Hey, you can have all the ordnance you want, Rambo. Get as big a gun as will fit through the front door. That'll cut down on that early Sat. morning lawn mowing, lol.

Most gun owners will never experience the "satisfaction" of stopping an intruder; it's more likely the gun will be involved in some other domestic tragedy or just be stolen.

Me, I've never felt I needed one, and I've probably been around more unsavory characters than most people.

But hey, if ya feel ya need one, get one.

Obviously you're a threat to society, or a threat to the socialistic society some would like to create.

Don't worry, there are still enough of us out here who believe in the Second Amendment (the true meaning, not the liberal interpretation where somehow the People mentioned in the Amendment became the government).

I just dont understand what the democrats dont understand about the phrase (the right of the people to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED). everytime I turn around they are trying to chisell away at that RIGHT. The second admendment was put there so that the people would not be sheep to the government. (ie. the government should fear the people not the people fearing the government.) The founding fathers knew that as long as the government feared the people it would work for the people.

From someone who HAS actually had to use a gun to defend my life.....If it ever gets close to a total ban, there are ways a person can make a gun and you can bet I will be prepared to do so!

For those of you who think guns should be illegal. . .?

-Not me. I like guns even though I've never picked up one in my life. Even if there was no crime ON EARTH, it would be fun to shoot them off like at a practice place. To people it would almost be like bowling and nocking down those pins, but with bullets and hitting that bullseye, LOL ;-)

Go guns. If onlly more people knew how to use guns like you. Also to the guy who said that's why you just call the cop they wouldn't have shown up fast enough.

Just look what happened when they banned guns in Australia.
I don't want to rely on someone else to protect my family and I. Our closest cops are 45 minutes away. By the time they'd get to me, I'd be dead. I'd rather depend on myself than others.
Thank God we have the 2nd Amendment.
Only criminals and tyrants fear honest gun carrying citizens.

Did someone mention banning all guns?

errr...I think your access to guns should be limited if you have such a narrow perspective on life.

I believe the term thrown around is "gun control". Not taking guns away from people, but making it harder for felons to get guns, background checks to keep the mentally challenged folks from using guns, and things like fully automatic military machine guns. You don't need one of those in your house.

However, I think they should have little "play parks" so that grown men and women can go and fire those weapons in war-like scenarios. Sort of like laser tag, but with real bullets. Of course, it would have to be rigged so nobody dies!
