I think they'll go with Calvin Johnson.

The Lions will have 3 options.
They can either draft a QB, improve the defensive line, or trade the pick down. If its a QB, they should draft Brady Quinn, tho that is a bit high for him in my opinion. They can also trade down and still get Quinn. Not many teams need QBs this year so it would work in the Lions favor. The other option is to draft Gaines Adams out of Clemson. The Lions lost James Hall and tried to replace him with Dewayne White, but you need more. Adams brings instant credibility to the Lions line and he had a remarkable combine at the workouts. The options are there. But drafting Calvin Johnson will NOT be the answer for this team. Is Kitna really the answer at QB and can Kitna really compliment Johnson well enough to help him reach his potential? Well.....now we have to see what the real management team decides to do with the choices.

First, I don't know your sources, but Oakland is going to take a QB and it will 95% chance of it being Russell. The lions need to get some talent positions players on both sides of the lines. They need play makers. They also need an adequate coaching staff and upper management. Where to begin? Well they should take the best available talent, even if it is a Calvin Johnson. They could trade him later for multiple good players. It all starts at the top and you or me or anyone here can only hope they do better this year. I am not a Lions fan, but I feel your pain, for I am a Raiders fan. Go Raiders!!!

They need a franchise qb. They have decent WRs and their RB situation is not that bad. Unless they want to go with a defensive player they should take the highest qb on the board. I still think that Oakland is going to take Russell, any rumors that say otherwise are probably just to throw other teams off. This means that the lions should probably draft quinn.

Im not sure where you heard Oakland is taking Johnson. ? 95 % of online mock drafts have Oakland still taking Russel. See link. If Oakland was going to take Johnson they would not have passed on Jeff Garcia. Garcia asked them to pass on him if they were taking a QB in the draft. And they did. Oakland is taking Russell and Detroit will trade the 2nd pick down to Tampa Bay who will take Johnson, then Cleveland will take Quinn and Detroit will screw up like they always do and take the real bust...probably Branch or really jump the gun and take Laron Landry. WOW.

If the Lions are smart they will draft somebody who can help them and who will fit an immediate need. But this is the Detroit Lions we are talking about here and Matt Millen loves drafting Wide Recievers and Calvin Johnson is the best player in the draft. So nothing will surprise me with the Detroit Lions.

Another WR, hell No. It will be a fresh start for the Lions again. Try to draft a player whom will grow with the new stadium, new front office, and fans whom been there forever. Think QB. There is already a nucleus there for success. But I don't think the Lions will be back before my Redskins. Much success with your pick in 07.

They should take Brady Quinn. They dont need anymore WR and nowing there past draft history is bad...They took 3 WR in 3 drafts and only one of them has turned out NOT to be a bust. I would take Quinn, they desperatly need a good QB to spark them off!

honestly, their best option is to trade the pick because they have a million holes on defense, but their best option would be to take joe thomas, whether johnson is on the board or not...contrary to popular belief, kitna was not bad at all last year, he was put in a horrible position by his o-line, and mike martz believes he can make a pro bowler out of kitna...they should look for a future quarterback in later rounds

kitna is not that bad. he did throw for over 4000 yrds, they need a line to protect him though. i dont think joe thomas will be a bust, however levi brown has more bust potential that thomas. i still think the lions draft thomas or trade out.

I would say that they should not take russell because of his erratic arm. He is a good quarterback but not one that would fit into that offense and also not one that could be mentored by Jon Kitna. They should take a tackle, or a corner...definetly not a receiver.
