The quickest and best way to rid yourself from the ants is to call a professional pest control company. Some of the remedies suggested will only give you temp. relief.
Keep in mind ants have been here a lot longer than us.
The ant traps at Lowes, will work but, may not work as quickly as you want. Also, the products have a lot of misleading marketing on the labels.
If you decide to treat this problem yourself, READ the labels and follow them to a T.

The best home remedy is Turmeric Powder. Mix turmeric powder with water to form a paste and apply the paste to the ant hole opening. You can also sprinkle turmeric powder around it. You can use BHC powder which are available in hardware shops and Agriculture/Pesticide shops too.

ants and other termites could just be the tip on an ice berg. Check it out with professional pest control. There might be colonies of "anay" underneath. Or check your households blood sugar, there might be diabetics residing in your house.

Grants Ant Stakes...grocery store, Wal*Mart or hardware center has them. Follow the package instructions.

i think ur talkin about little black sugar ants, im guessing that since they go after things they consider sweet counter it with sumthing disgusting. try following the ants to see what they are goin after and then get rid of whatever it is

If you want them COMPLETELY gone within 2 days, go to LOWES. They have ant traps there. Basically, they check in, and never check back out :)

You can't. Animal Rights be knocking at your door!
They probably want water or they be in the kitchen. I just spray around the base of everything and they go to the neighbor next door.

Simplest and easiest way that we follow - spray water mixed with lots of salt.
