In the movie the little old lady telling the story, Ninny Threadgoode, How does she know so much about the past? In the stories she tells it sounds like she was right there while it all happened but you never see a character Ninny. A friend of mine thinks she is really Idgie Threadgoode, Is that true?

I can see why you would think that Ninny and Idgie are the same character if you have only seen the movie.

If you read the book, you will learn that Ninny was married to one of Idgie's older brothers and that she lived with the family.

As good as the movie is, the book is even better--It's called Fried Green Tomatoes at Whistle Stop Cafe by Fanny Flagg.

your friend is right ninny is really idgie. you can tell this because at the end there are peaches by someones gravestone
she says idgie must still be giving her peaches. the lady realizes that niny is really idgie.

That's what the movie makes you believe. I always thought she was really Idgie. Especially with the honey jar on the gravestone at the end.

Yes, I think she was Idgie.
Just remember, when you get away with making the secret sauce, you really not want to give the deeper details or who you really are.
