You can only be there for your dad, offer support and try to point him in the right direction because ultimately he is the only one that can make the decision to stop drinking and seek help.

I agree w/ Sunshine, I grew up with a alcoholic father since I was little. It was all the support from family & friends that got Dad through this. Hopefully your Dad can pull through his difficult challenge, go to a Detox, have him talk to one on one person that your Dad can confide in. Everyone is different when it comes to choices they make. Hopefully the 'HEALTHY WAY'.

This is a really tough situation... I feel for you... alcoholics are in denial... they don't have a problem... its part of the disease and will not get help till they are ready to do so... also only 1% die sober... :-(

Contact Ala-Teen near you for some support. You cannot change your dad, but you can learn some coping techniques and find support with other people in your situation. Good luck!

you have to tell him not to drink and say if you die I'll miss you because i love you.
