The DEBATE is this: If a couple have sex and the woman gets pregnant the "father" of that child is legally required to pay child support etc. Even if the "guy" does not want to.
If a couple have sex and the woman gets preganant and HE wants to "have" the child...but she doesn't...HE has legal problems.
This issue is being debated in various U.S. State Supreme Courts.

does a man have a right to know, well, I believe the answer to the question is yes, he does. But that ONLY extends to the right to know; I believe he should have NO rights in the decision for a woman to get an abortion. NONE! 0%. The right of the woman should be the issue there.
But I do think the woman should tell the man involved, just as I think she should tell him if she decides to HAVE the baby. I think it is a little hypocritical to say that the man should have to pay child support and that he is responsible in THAT manner, and not at least KNOW about the pregnancy. The responsibility is the same in both cases.

It's not the Man's body who would go through 9 months of slavery if abortion was restricted as you suggest. So no, the Woman is the one whose body is involved.
If, however, the Woman decides to carry the child to term and give birth, and then decides to have the child adopted, the Man has the right to take on full parental rights without going through the adoption procedure, so long as the Woman signs away her parental rights.
If you want to have children, talk it over with your sex partner, whom I hope is someone you trust. Don't depend on a chance pregnancy that occurs when you've been too under-prepared to take proper precautions so you can have a child that would enter the world without truly being sought by its parents. That's stacking the deck against the child, the mother and you.

I believe yes he does have the right to know, but at the end of the day, its the woman's body and she should have the final decision. More care should be taken so your question should NEVER become an issue, which unfortunately comes up far too often.

There is no debate. If a woman wants to have an abortion, she should discuss it (not just TELL it) to the father. Period. I could care less about women's rights as far as this issue is concerned. I'm more interested in the rights of that unborn child.

Are you lost? Why ask this of non-reproducing people? What no one seems to be taking into consideration here is the child. "Nine months of slavery"? I have never heard a more asinine description of pregnancy. The father of the child has every right to know. I hope that one day we all realize that fetuses are human beings and have the right to be born regardless of whose body they gestate in. It's a very sad world where the right to choose is more important than the right to life.

Absolutely!
The fact that the man has no say is unfair! YES it is the woman's body - SO WHAT!? - it's the guys baby as much as it is hers!
There seems to be a big double standard. If she decides to keep it - the guy "must" provide support, he has no say in the matter. But if she doesn't want the child and he does - she can terminate it, he has no say.
It would seem if it's something he can be held responsible for in one case, he should have a say in the other!!!
And for the women that disagree - I assume YOU would never pursue child support from a guy that got you pregnant and didn't what the child...

Legally, I don't know but I think the woman although has the right to do what she wants might want to inform her boyfriend out of courtesy

No, he doesn't have the right to know. When a man can get pregnant, then he can have a say in abortion.

no, abortion is a woman's right, is her body, she decides what to do with it. The man is not the one that will have to go on with the pregnancy and all the risk that come with it.
