Do they realize that the grass isn't greener after the honeymoon period or sometimes before?

My response should be credited to CAC, who answered a few rows below mine...
I feel some partners choose to believe the grass will be greener on the other side after the initial "honeymoon" period has passed. After the first season or two, they don't think the grass in their own pasture is quite as green as it was in the beginning, so they start to take notice of some of the newer pastures that may have popped up overnight in some of the newer neighborhoods. They fail to realize, however, that every pasture needs to be nurtured, fed, watered, and tended to DAILY in order for it to STAY green!

I like to think of the "honeymoon period" as the "prep and weed" period. This involves taking the steps needed to ready the soil so that the roots of love can deeply establish themselves. It won't always happen in the first season, which is when the "weed" of impatience can creep in. Those who begin to fancy newer pastures, soon find out they are made up of nothing more than cheap top soil. Once they get past the beautiful top soil, they find there is nothing solid for them to plant their "aging" roots in!! They'll either keep looking or find themselves trying to go back to their original pasture.

On the other hand, it should be our responsibility to tend to our own top soil to make sure it remains attractive to our partners! All we need to do is mix in a little bit of conditioning soil every now and then, and keep the weeds and bugs out. Sometimes if we simply plant a few seeds of a different flower in the same pasture, it will yield newer and more beautiful experiences, and avoid the temptation of others. The original roots will not only remain intact, but will continue to grow deeper, more solid, and will stay strong.

TLC, attention, daily hugs & kisses, prayer, prayer, prayer, and LOTS of communication about our wants, needs, and desires will help keep love alive!!! It will always be a work-in-progress so we should never take love for granted!

Happy Easter my friends!

I think sometimes it is, AND sometimes it's not. My wife has ruined our credit, our finances and is a poor mother with the occasional glimmer of hope. that being said she gave me a wonderful son and daughter, and knowing I would do well elsewere doesnt resolve the fact that my greener pastures would leave my children in a brown one. So I do what I can, and give my children and wife my best and ask for nothing in return. But what comes around goes around, I only hope my kids don't learn this dysfunction they live in.

I think both...it is a shame that they can't learn to plant new seeds of love so their pasture always stays green enough for them where they are at.
If they keep their own pasture watered with love and friendship and always plant the new seeds of love they planted in the beginning then their pasture would always be as green and beautiful as it was in the beginning and they would remain happy where they are at.

be cool...

Well, that may be the response you may be looking for, but the grass is sometimes a whole lot greener.
Have a happy day!

I think when one strays from their marriage, it's because they want the freedom to date others again. Find someone that makes them feel more alive inside then the same-old same-old they have at home.

Yes, they do. Mine did - he had to come crawling back (literally). I had already filed for divorce and gave him a chance. He's very lucky and now he's completely open and honest - no secrets.
