I'm looking for books of a drama/morbid genre. The best way i can describe the kind of books i'm after is to use movie examples. American Beauty, The Safety in Objects, The Quiet and even Ghost World. Basically, the secrecy of 'normal' suburbian life, with the angst and introspective vibe. Not so much to do with teenage angst, something a bit more towards adult reading.
I'll appreciate any suggestions you can give me though sooooo go for it!

The Little Friend by Donna Tartt.
Fall On Your Knees or As The Crow Flies by Anne Marie McDonald
The Corrections by Jonathon Franzen

All have that veneer of the happy family but very disturbing under currents rise to the surface.

"The Moonstone" is also a good story by Wilkie Collins. It's about a burglary in a peaceful-seeming country side. It's quite interesting. Hope you enjoy it.
