At the end of season 7 we didn't know if we were going to have a season 8 or not and so they had to make the season 7 look like the end just in case. But then we got season 8 and they didn't want to have to do that again, have the fans wondering if there would be another season or not so they decided to make the finale the end. That way they could make the stroyline proper and better or the fans.

I researched this on Wikipedia....and yes it was a good show! Apparently the network was cutting budgets and many of the people working on it sacrificed their own wages to keep the quality up...after a 20% cut for Season 5! I cannot get a definite reason but obviously it had just run its time. =(

Because it was a bad "Buffy" knockoff with poor character development, predictable storylines and a one-trick "magic" solution to every plot complication.
Because it was a rip-off of an unremarkable theatrical film ("Practical Magic").
Because the network that showed it Finally realized that the amount they were spending producing this garbage was more than they were making in terms of viewers and ad rates.

Because once the viewers started to drop off and the cast had issues, the studio let it go.

i believe it got cancelled because the wb was bought, and only some of it's shows would continue on on the cw and myq2. charmed wasn't one of them for some reason....and i don't know why!

i think that it was because when they merged with the upn to makw the cw they didn't want to renew charmed
