Those Texas RedsStaters that drug the black man behind their pickup truck believed they were acting in a freedom loving manor.
Many people from that RedsState community got on the evening News and said "What's wrong with that Billy Bob was a just'a a fun'un"
Just a good ole boys never meaning no harm. Been in trouble with the law since the day they were born.

Humanist, I know you respect me and my fairness, you have picked my answers as best answers on many occasions. I am here to tell you yes, the American people are a freedom loving bunch. I am included in being free. The only ones that don't are the ones dumb enough to follow those in power that are chipping away at the constitution. The Rush Limbaugh repuglicans which are the most mentally diminished of the population, most if not all are not as smart as a 5th. grader. .

Fact not propaganda!! The greatest Nation on the face of the planet
So great people risk dieing in the desert to steal across the border at night
The #1 immigration stop in the world
If propaganda why is everyone trying to get to the USA
Are the people brainwashed because they do not agree with your anti-USA thoughts
If everywhere in the world people want to come to the USA because it is the Best
Maybe it is you that is wrong in your thinking and flawed with whatever facts and reasons you have for being an America Hater

I like the question. I always thought our freedom was overblown because there is too many instances of it being abused. Still we are able to criticize the government although this mat lead to social ostracism. Also the FBI does keep an eye on those of us who make too much noise for them and the republicans have shown in the last 6 years that their crowds have to be whitewashed. Justice is unevenly applied with too much racial profiling and if you are too poor to afford good counsel. Lawyers are expensive as hell and all lawyers do stick together. Bush is always pushing democracy on other countries but he supports repressive regimes and many areas of the globe like Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Pakistan to name a few. In short it is not quite the freedom most Americans are led to believe.

There are many Americans that love freedom, but the policies of the US have propped up the Shah in Iran, Pinochet in Chile, the Contras in Nicaragua, etc, so until the leaders of the US, my country, fess up, then the US elite and government should not be considered to be "freedom loving".

The government loves their freedom, but not the people's freedom. You carry a gun (right to bear arms) and go to jail. Practice a non-christian religion and you are ostricized from society. Notice there are no Muslim or Jewish holidays on the calendar that are nationally observed. If you own a business that has more than X number of people you have to hire a diverse workforce whether or not people are qualified. Try collecting food stamps if you are white. You will be laughed at. So, no freedom is very limited.

Conservative politicians in the U.S. support Americans' freedom the same way Christianity supports humans' free will:
We have it, but we're not really supposed to use it.
For example: people who tell me, "Our soldiers fought and died so you would have the right to criticize our government!"
If I am then not allowed to criticize the government, those soldiers died in vain.

I do.
I also believe that the piece of trash person you refer to in your link is not a citizen and is an irresponsible "journalist".
If he thinks that refusal to identify a person committing a crime is the only way that the public will trust him then he is as brainwashed as apparently you are.
I don't trust him and I don't trust you to do what is right regardless of the profession involved, but ESPECIALLY if you are either one "journalsists".

I believe many people in America are freedom loving. Many American leaders have been freedom loving and freedom promoting. There is also a hardcore cadre of white supremacist, mammon-worshipping, jingoistic ignorami who the rest of us have to argue against and work against. It's an evolving thing.
