Don't take offense .....Cutting?

Question

Don't take offense ... this question is not to offend anyone or cause problems.

I just want to know do people still cut themselves?

Is this just something white people do?

Why do people do it (they say because they are in pain but wouldn't it cause more pain to cut yourself)?

I think it is mostly children of yuppies that consider themselves emo's (emotionals) or the old standby Goth!
They do it to get attention-they love to show you their scars--they think its cool (its not).
I 'm not sure if its only white people never having met a non-white that cuts. I've never seen a non-white Goth either but maybe like an urban myth they exist someplace.
Mostly, its poor, little rich girls who never got enough attention from daddy. (I did!)

I don't think it's confined to any one race. Many cultures over the years have "pain rituals" that people endure to prove something (just take a look at the annual crucifixions in the Phillipines).

But cutting, a very private and personal practise (or at least it should be) actually releases endorphins into the body which make a person feel better, emotionally.

Sometimes, pain is the only thing to remind a person they are still alive.

No offense implied or taken - nothing wrong with being curious. But anyone who is cutting themselves needs psychiatric help.

i do no longer have self assurance that's constrained to everybody race. Many cultures over the years have "discomfort rituals" that persons undergo to instruct out some aspect (only take a seem on the once a year crucifixions interior the Phillipines). yet reducing, an overly own and man or woman preparation (or a minimum of it may might want to be) really releases endorphins into the body which make a guy or woman evaluate larger, emotionally. each so often, discomfort is the only aspect to remind a guy or woman they're though alive. No offense implied or taken - no longer some thing incorrect with being curious. yet everybody who's reducing themselves demands psychiatric help.

My friend use to do it a cple. of years ago in 7th grade. She had to go to a hospital for it for like 3 months. Now shes better. Shes not sure why she did it. SOme people do it cause the blood represents stress and when u cut yourself and see the blood going out it could represent the stress leaving there body. I know one person who does it right now and she does it just for the attention. So i think its one of those things that people will never really now why they do it. And i cant say if just white people do it cause there are really only two colored people in my whole school. And im not friends with them (and no im not saying cause there colored but just cause im not) so i guess if u want to know the answer ask a counselor or a nurse why people do it. Or ask someone who did it themselves.!

I used to cut. Not anymore but i will always fight the urge to.

Has anyone said Stick your hand on a hot burner when like your foot hurts or something, Cus then you will forget about ur foot and your hand will hurt,.
Its sorta like that. Your physical pain is more painful at that moment of cutting, so you kinda end up ignoring the emotional pain.

Another thing is you have control over something. Since there is obviously something in that persons life bothering them that they cant control. They can control the cuts.

Not everyone cuts becuase they want attentions. Personally me it was becuase my boyfriend dumped me, People were harrasing me at school, my grades started to drop, I was suicidal, and my parents were always fighting and my dad kept leaving for days at a time.

All i have to say is if your a cutter PLEASE STOP!!! Its hard but its not worth it.

And i have no idea why mainly white people cut. I really dont..

I would like to mention. I did cut once for attention and i didnt get it. BUt that was once. The rest of my scars are on my ankles and on my stomach. No one has ever seen them. I used makeup to cover them up.

Why would you ask is this JUST something white people do? Sounds racist to me. But just so YOU know. I know a beautiful young lady who has repeatedly cut herself so many times that it isn't funny. She has been sent to a state hospital a few times. She has some issues going on. And YOU will really be in total shock at this. But this Beautiful young lady is BLACK. WOW, are you OK? Did that knock you out of your chair?

i havent done it but i no why ppl do it it is because they are angry and think bye hurting something or doing something bad will relive them of their anger
