I have a Brother printer/scanner/copier MFC 420 CN. When I try to use the Photocapture function I get the following error message:

MFC420CN USB cannot be found. Please make sure your device is on and interface cable is propoerly connected to the computer.

The devive is on and connected properly. I have tried reloading the software but that doesn't work. Any ideas?

Thanks.

I no longer own any Brother printers due to my MFC4100 or well 2 of them died on me within 6 months of purchasing them. I suggest that you buy a Hewlett Packard Multifunction Machine.

As for your problem, if you are using a USB hub connect the printer directly to the USB port on the computer, not a hub. Reinstall your printer software, make sure that you unplug the printer from the computer before you begin, and don't plug it in until told to do so.

Unplug the printer for 20 minutes to reset the gadget, and run a printer cleansing cycle, this in certain situations triggers the cartridges to artwork, it isn't basic to inform what else often is the priority without the style of the printer, yet i trust you may choose a clean printhead, use the printer finder on the link less than to be sure if printheads on your certain printer are offered as consumables,

It sounds like a problem with the machine you can contact Brother and they will help you.
