Yes of course there is platonic love. It's called friendship. Family & friends you love platonically. It may be more rare between males & females but it is possible. You may love someone on the inside but not be attracted to them physically. Or some people you just feel a "friend" vibe from them, you love them like a brother & could never picture kissing them. Sexual love is eros (******). The best relationship is when you have both. When you love each other as friends and lovers. That is the ultimate romantic love.

If you go to the orgininal meaning of the term "platonic love," it is meant to be between a man and a boy and is sexual in nature. It is derived from the ideas of the ancient Greeks with Aristotle in particular was had many "boy friends."
With that in mind, i do not want to have an platonic love.

Why, of course!! There can be love and yet still hold on to the friendship. You don't need to have sex in order to be friends. I have a great friend of opposite sex and we have been friends for the last 18 years. He has married and built a family, and we are still friends. He is very attractive, but.. I guess you just have limit your space amongst each other. That's how we were. Another friends is a Native American dancer..he is too attractive, and we held on to being friends only for the last 20(?) years.
It is possible.. during all this friendship, I have married too. It's called being 'friends'.
So, yes to your question. Friends of opposite sex can be platonic, and it is possible.

No love is not always sexual, some of the deepest loving experiences are with friends even of the opposite sex. You can also develop deep loving feelings for some one and consider them like a brother or sister even though they are not related to you by blood. These are some of the most rewarding and long lasting loving relationships you can ever develop.

Of course it can be platonic. There are many types of love. Companionate love is very different from the way you feel about a lover and different again from parental love. I love my friends to pieces but I don't want to have sex with them.

it can be platonic... ... like with siblings... good friends.. parents... etc. Even some couples go from a sexual//intimate type love to more of a platonic love.

In my experience, love doesn't always need to be sexual. I've been with my boyfriend for a year and a half, and we're still as strong as we were in the beginning. Neither of us have done anything sexual nor had the desire to. We're completely happy talking, cuddling, and doing fun things like going to amusement parks, museums, or walks. Neither of us are planning on doing anything sexual (with anyone) until marriage.
We're not religious, it's just something we agree on and think is something to value. What better way to show your new spouse that you are theirs, than you give your virginity, purity, to them?
We're thoughtful people, "Good things come to those who wait." :]
