The theraband is an elastic band that provides resistance. It provides light weight resistance to help tone muscles. The band can be used in multiple settings and helps in tageting different muscles. The resistance comes from pulling, but is not so great during the releasing motion. After I hurt my ankle and foot area - the doctors had me use the theraband to help reagin muscle mass and strength.

It can surely assist you in ballet with muscle toning. I'd use it to stengthen my core (abdominal) as well as my back, arms, shoulders, and legs. You can use it alone or with a partner.

Seek you medical provider before trying this, but tie the band to a bed post or low lying, sturdy pole - sitting on your behind with your legs and feet together in front of you - pull the band back with your arm muscles by either pulling it to your chest or [one/ two handed] pull to the side. Lay back holding the band to your chest to work your back or ab area.
