E=mc2 is all about knowing who we are and what are we if we really are! Confusing, isn`t it? Well it is said that our origins are unknown, that we may have originated from outer space, that we are therefore living on Earth despite being extra-terrestrial. This equation by Einstein relates energy (E) to mass(m) implying that energy is nothing but mass travelling at the square of the speed of light. We may therefore have been a type of energy which is mass for the time being because of our incapacity of travelling at the speed of light.

From this we can understand that a very small amount of matter holds an enormous amount of energy. Stars shine by converting mass into energy, atom bombs mirror the same reaction and so do the nuclear reactors that fire electricity grids daily

It also explains why nothing can travel faster than light.

Energy and mass have an equivalency - are basically two aspects of the same thing, Mass is unreleased energy and energy is released mass (kind of).

When an object of mass starts to travel faster and faster it needs to convert more and more energy to keep moving - until as it approaches FTL speeds it's mass and the energy it needs becomes infinite - ie, bigger than the universe itself.

And that is why - as far as we know - nothing can travel faster than light.

This sentence tells us about the relation between mass and energi. If mass disappears some big amount of energy appears. The relation is E/m=c*c
This tells us that when mass is decreasing because of radiation, then you can calculate the energy given in the prosess.
It it also obvious that when you heat the water cooking coffe, then you with good equipment can measure an increase of mass. That is not so easy to understand. There is a thin border between mass and radiation of different kinds.
Somebody believes that just after the big bang there was no mass. Everything was energi. The prosess giving the mass is not so easy to get a picture of in mind .

E= Energy M is the total mass and c is the speed of light.

It states the amount of energy that can be released from a certain amount of mass. The unit, i think, for the Energy is "Energy per unit mass".

It comes from Energy being proportional to Mass. However when you have a proportional sign, then to get rid of it and put it into an equation you need to introduce a constant. The constant in this case is the speed of light squared.

So, The speed oif light squared is the conversion factor for converting Energy into Mass.

It predicts things like, as the Sun radiates away light, then it is also radiating away mass and thus loosing it.

It also can predict the energy release for atomic bombs and, to my knowledge, was how they were made. (well the idea kind of side to A-bombs.)

Einsteins Theory of relativity:

E = Energy
m = Mass of object
c = Speed of light (Which you square)

The energy of an object travvelling at light speed or close to is the mass multiplied by the speed of light squared.

To make an object of mass m travel at light speed, you would need E energy to do it.


It also relates to Energy produced in nucleur reaction, Energy Produced = Mass of Plotonium or whatever multiplied by speed of light squared.
