I think it's a reasonable question. Crystals are quartz, and quartz is one of the most abundant minerals on Earth.
Usually you will find crystals because there has been some excavation around a vein of quartz. Then you go in with hand tools and just pick up loose crystals or carefully dig them out.

I guess you just go and look for them, and once you think you found one. Take them to a mineral expert or sutin like that....^_^
