I'm not sure what country you are living in, but there's not one single answer (at least in the U.S.).

My cows are Black Angus meat cows. I only had one dairy cow, a Jersey. I paid $900. for each adult cow, and I suspect it was too much because I didn't know enough about cows, nor about the cows that I bought. While some were 2-3 years old as I wanted, half were 5 to 7 years old. When I sold them to a neighbor 5 years later, I charged him only $500 each, which was less than they were worth.

At the livestock auction, they would have sold for about $550. At the auction, cattle in the U.S. are sold by weight. My cows varied in weight from 900 lbs. to 1100 lbs.

Jersey milk cows cost less than Angus beef cows. I paid either $500 or $600 for my Jersey cow. I used her to produce half angus beef steers that would gain weight faster because of her rich milk. I have two of her daughters now producing good milk for their babies that are fathered by my current Angus bull.

I hope this helps you. I live in the U.S. so all my information is in U.S. dollars.

Prices vary according to what part of the U.S. you live in. I live in Tennessee. There are sources online that give cattle sale prices in all the states in the U.S.
