I grew up in a time without so called ratings and saw no harm. The PG-13 rating is nonsense, and children are denied the right to see a good movie, even a Disney movie because some idiot heard a bad word. I loved to play with cap guns, too, and saw no harm in my friends growing up. Does anyone agree?

The worst thing about 'ratings' is the misconception most people have that Rated R means better than Rated PG-13. Most of my friends and a few family members won't even consider watching a movie UNLESS it's Rated R. I don't understand their thinking on this. They think a movie has to have lots of nudity, blood & bad words in order to be good. Me, however, I like most movies for the story. What my friends don't understand is IF the story is strong, then it won't matter how much nudity, blood or bad words are involved because the story stands on it's own. Would nudity have made 'The Outsiders' any more of a classic? I don't think so...lol People think they're getting 'less' with a pg-13 but, imho, it just depends on the story. My best friend thinks a horror movie has to have more & more gore in order to be good. But the sight of blood has nothing really to do with if the movie is actually scarey or disturbing. Blood is just an effect. It's the story that's gonna scare you or not. 'Poltergeist' was Rated PG and look how much that one scared people. 'Freddy VS. Jason' was Rated R, but did it actually scare anyone? :-) great question

Dark Knight - 2 Unbelievably over-rated. Except for the Jokers performance of course. Mamma Mia - Like I'M gonna watch that! Sweeney Todd - 3 Not bad. Pirates 1 - 4 Good movie Spiderman 3 - 3 Not as good as the 1st. Hellboy 2 - 2 Disappointing. Best movie of 2008? Kung Fu Panda!

The MPAA ratings are crap. You can have as much killing and violence as you want in a movie, but introduce just a little bit of sex, and you've got an NC-17 rating.

Take the movie Hostel for instance. That movie was rated R. If they made a movie that was as sexual as Hostel was violent, it would be X-rated.

If it's rated PG it should be PG-13. If rated PG-13, it should be rated R. Most G rated films should be rated PG or PG-13.

I disagree. I think movies push the bounds way farther today than when we were kids.
