Back in 1994 I had a severe case of Hypoglycemia. I was borderline from slipping into a coma! My blood sugar level was 28 (anything under 20 and you can die) I was so bad I just wished I was dead because I couldn't walk, would halucinate, mood swings, numbness...you name it, I had it. What I had to do was EAT, EAT and EAT good food all day long until I was stable. It took 6 months later until I was normal. What ever you do, stay away from any sugars what so ever. No candy, cookies, soda, or junk of any kind. I couldn't even eat pizza because they use sugar to keep the sauce from tasting to acidy or bitter. Trust me when you feel as bad as I did, you read every box label because eating sugars is like poison to your body. I found Orange Juice to help alot but eat food right away after it because what the juice does is raise your sugar levels fast, but since it doesn't stay in your system as long as food does, it goes low again. Eating the food right afterwards helps keep your sugar levels up for a long time. Trust me I went through hell and I now feel great.

It's a condition where your blood sugar levels drop very fast and very hard. You have to continually eat to keep your levels right. It's not about not being able to eat certain things, it's about keeping your blood sugar at a constant level so you don't pass out or get very irritable.

Listen, don't eat cool whip. While that will help you get an immediate relief from your light headedness, it will go away fast. Eat fruit or berries. They are your best bet. Try keeping crackers with you at all times for those rough moments. Eat every 2 1/2 to 3 hours at the most, but small portions to help keep your weight at a healthy level.

Another good source of energy is raisins. Good luck.

PS. Low blood sugar is NOT diabetes. Diabetes is when you have TOO much sugar in your blood.

Hypo glycemis is low blood sugar. Folks who suffer from it usually do well by eating frequent small meals. It is a disease you can live with. The food you eat will affect your blood sugar and affect how you feel because of it.
