Not all bunnies like being held. They can be skittish animals, and some will not tolerate it.
Whenever I have to hold/restrain a bunny that does not like picked up I do it like this: pick up under the chest, with one hand under the hind legs/bottom. QUICKLY place across your stomach (sideways) with left arm under it to support it, so legs are trapped between left elbow and body. Place right arm across the top of the bunny so that right elbow covers face. Bunnies will not struggle if they are held close and securely, legs supported and face covered. Hasn't failed me yet.
I'm not saying this is the cuddliest way to hold bunny, but it might get him used to being held and in time he might let you cuddle him!

You've gotten some very good answers already. The only additional suggestion I can make is to use a soft blanket or towel when you pick up your bunny. This will also help her feel more secure, at the same time protecting you from sharp bunny claws (and sharp bunny teeth!).

Has your bunny been neutered? Neutering usually causes rabbits to become more placid and calm, and therefore may be more likely to allow you to hold it. Also bear in mind that rabbits are prey animals, and instinct naturally tells them that being picked up is a bad thing! So take things very slowly, and get your rabbit neutered.

Good answers, one more bit of info - always make sure you have control of the legs, not to scare you, but if they start to kick in a tantrum, they could break their back. The more you hold your bunny though, the more tame it will become and enjoy being held! :-)

Put your writing hand just under the rabbit's arms so your fingers are well cushioned under its armpits, holding its chest.
Place your other hand to scoop up its bum
Scoop the rabbit up, lifting with your writing hand and supporting the rabbit by the bum.
Lift the rabbit to your chest.
If inexperienced, hold the rabbit to your chest with one arm and support it by its bum with your arm.

Just pick her or him up around the body, gently, and make sure to support the hind legs, they squirm if their hind legs aren't on top of something.
