i have a laptop and desktop.i have had them both working in the past but all of a sudden the desktop will not connect to internet.i have a dsl modem with a dell router.the laptop is wireless and desktop is wired.how do i get a default gateway adress.for some reason my desktop does not have one anymore

On your laptop, go to start, run, and typ cmd. In the dos box that comes up type ipconfig /all. Look at the default gateway on your laptop and put that in for your desktop.

Try unplugging the ethernet cable from your desktop and rebooting it and the router. Then reconnect the ethernet cable to the desktop.
