The Dyson wins hands down, but because I didn't have $400 to $600 for a vacuum, I bought a Euro Pro Infinity at Target, $199. I would definitely put it right up there with the Dyson. It was picking up all kinds of fur and dust I had no idea were in my carpets! If you go any cheaper, that's just what you are getting, a cheap vacuum that will conk out with the fur!

My luck has been good so far with the Bissell Upright bagless- but you have to remember to clean or replace the filters frequently.
When I worked as a housekeeper, I used Dirt Devils a lot, and they were good little machines. But the strain tended to be very hard on them.
I've heard Dysons are good.

A dyson or Panasonic upright, you can also pick up the most hair by doing this first before vacuuming use your broom to brush out the hair as much as possible then just vacuum, you can also use one of those Bissell non motorized sweepers they are great for picking up hair and dirt and fluff even crumbs, I just love this sweeper, it picks up tons of hair inbetween vacuumings and I have a long haired golden retriever that is part collie. Good Luck !

This is an OUTSTANDING solution a friend with 3 cats told me of
reducing vacuum use and is FAST on clothing, sofa & love seat,
padded dining chairs and bedspreads> Take a "rubber glove"
using long overlapping strokes to bring all hair & lint in a pile
you can pick up. Any kind of rubber glove on your hand will do
this, any color. Who cares How? IT WORKS! I don't like to use
the vacuum brush head for floors on my light furniture, except
when deep cleaning for dust mites. If the glove gets soiled,
wash hands with it on and towel dry to reuse.
It saves lottsa bucks on lint rollers, too! We all vacuum what
we must, but tell others you know a Rubber Glove is fast and
thorough. Thankful for your Q. to share this A.
By the way, I'm happy with my 7 amp Eureka The Boss
Mighty Mite ceiling to floor, house and auto. My pet cat
has full privileges and a glove hides in each room/ car.

Dyson, when it is full up with hair you can just empty the cylinder. Also if fur gets into the brushes they are quite easy to clean. We have had one for years and it keeps on going, even though I have hoovered off my horse rugs with it!

Our pets have killed of a number of vacuums
including a VAX and a Dyson
We bought a new Electrolux a couple of days ago and found several that were advertising being able to cope with pet hair.

The Dyson Animal, designed for, er, animals. It's not cheap (over $500) but it is the best value for money, without a doubt.

We just purchased the new Oreck for this reason and it works great. It is pricey but worth it, 20 yr warranty, you can't beat that and with pets I have to change vaccums at least once a year.

My husband has his barbershop in the house, and what he uses is a Dirt Devil featherlite. It does great. I don't remember how much it cost, got it at Wal-Mart several years ago. Don't know if human hair is like pet hair, but hope this helps.
