Attend meetings and make high level decisions? Is that basically it?

Apart from managing the company they have to make important decisions for their shareholders. Lack of doing so will cost them their job and possibly their company.

They also take responsibility for things, if a decision doesn't work then it could cost them their job. They're generally the person that is answerable to the board or shareholders too.

Well they set the direction the company should head towards and sign all the important contracts and stuff.....other than that they sit in their big chair and shake their legs

They are probably doing a lot of things, including golf ,but the one thing they do and do really well is to get fat bonuses.

Also, take business trips, yell at receptionists, yell at executive assistants, worry about their funding.
