It's easy to think that maybe their earlier stuff isnt great compared to a lot of the music we've had since! but ya have to remeber they were so original at the time and completely paved the way for all musicians since! and even besides that the music , as you said is simple and sometimes repetetive, but simplicity is often the key and the songs they wrote were always fun and catchy in the beginning!! hard to say their early stuff is nothing special - probably a bit harsh considerin who we're talkin about lol!!

Sorry, you can't compare them to "other boy bands". There is no resemblance in almost every regard. The current (and recent 10 years worth) crop of boy bands are cookie cutter creations by one or two managers. Songs written by others, no musical ability in regards to instruments and a heavy reliance on choreography. The Beatles wrote their own, played their own instruments and were a groundbreaking group for the time. The music was, comparatively speaking, fluff but a new type of fluff, and got increasingly better over 8 years.

Sure, when I listen I gravitate more towards Revolver, The White Album or Let It Be, but there is a simplistic pleasure in sampling some of their earlier work from time to time.

From today's persepctive, maybe not. But for 1962-1965, it was a lot different than what was out at the time.

Besides, what makes you think those boy bands weren't just copying what the Beatles did nearly 45 years ago?

I prefer the early Beatles songs, they were simple, silly love songs that anyone who has ever been in love can relate to...they didn't have to be deep or be totally out there.

They did admit they didn't give importance to the lyrics in their early days.
