Shortly after midnight on 31 August at 12:25 a.m. their Mercedes-Benz S 280 entered the underpass below the Place de l'Alma, travelling at high speed and followed by nine French photographers on various motorcycles.

Initial media reports stated Diana's car had collided with the pillar at over 190 km/h (120 mph), and that the speedometer's needle had jammed at that position. It was later announced the car's actual speed on collision was about 95–110 km/h (60–70 mph), and that the speedometer had no needle as it was digital; this conflicts with the list of available equipment and features of the Mercedes-Benz W140 S-Class, which used a computer-controlled analogue speedometer, with no digital readout for speed.

A blue Mercedes S-280 was the car. It was once reported that it was going over 190 km/h(120 mph). It was found out that it was really going 95-110 km/h(60-70 mph). Here is some more info on what happened.:

Tentofield is right, you have to be born a princess to have the title. Though Diana was the daughter of an earl, she was not royalty. So she was not titled Princess Diana, she was Diana, Princess of Wales.
