start slow... and increase metronome over time... learn sections and then build from there.

This is perhaps the hardest point of playing the piano. Each hand is controlled by a different side of the brain, putting the two together to do independent things is not something we were designed for. However, obviously it can be done - but it takes a LOT of work. Try playing it VERY slowly (like ridiculously) with both hands together all the way through, then again slightly faster and so on. Once your brain has worked out how to do it slowly it doesn't take a vast amount of time for it to be able to work out how to do it quickly too, but it does require practice.
Another way is to learn one hand so you could play it in your sleep (this should take at least a hundred times playing it through) and then try adding the other hand.
Whatever happens this will take a LONG time and a lot of practice to be able to master, but each time you overcome one thing the next time it will be easier.

I am in the same boat. I have been learning the feather theme from Forrest Gump. I almost have the right hand down, left hand is about 75% but when the two worlds collide it is a disaster. After I feel that I have both hands down pretty good I will try to go really really slow with both hands. I have only been playing for a month so I would recommend to you what I keep telling myself. Patience and Practice.

I feel your pain. I've been playing and singing all my life. I've played everything from Oboe to Drum Set, but when it comes to piano, i fail =(. One handed is easy with either hand. But when trying to play with 2 hands, everything goes to hell. I've been practice everyday, and it doesn't seem to get better, if anyone has any suggestions, tell me, because i need help.

Do you like playing piano? If you don't like it, you'll find it very difficult to learn... You have learn something that you like the most...
