From my point of view.... the song is really catchy....
I've always thought Christina was something different to all the other "girl" singers around at the moment. She was lumped in with Britney when she first appeared, but her voice alone and the talent level she displays, should have made people realise that she was something else. I reckon she would have been perfect for the 1940's as her voice sounds so suited to that type of music as she proves with this track. It's a wonderful song and totally different to what all the other female singers are doing at the moment. Can't wait to see what she comes up with next! Oh and by the way she looks sodding amazing in the video!

She is a white girl with a soulful black womans voice range and style that can take you back to the 30's and 40's and she let it show in Mouland Rouge with Missy Elliot...I would put her up to Areatha Franklin.
I like Hurt and other songs like Ain't No other man
The hint at sex buns and hot dogs in the 30's was a [pin up girl style] for the south and the blues and JAss efforts to hide teenage sex frustration not being able to come out in the open and declaire sex as we do today... It is odd to make it to the video and see she did Rosie the Rivitor like the working women for the war effort in the factory makeing mess kits and motors for cars and airplaines....Then the navy Wax nurses who fought for women on the frontlines...No man could see a woman go down like the loss of a future mother...add she did the Triplet Sisters of the Movie fame
who did USO tours with Bob Hope and Bing Crosby with the idea of Miss America to keep the troups in line and give them a idea of as Mr. Hope Would say Take a look at what you are fighting for FELLAs....

Totally agree, I love Christina Aguilera shes very unique and has her own style of music, its great that shes not followed the same route as other female singers and I really admire that, her album is brilliant and shes got one of the best voices around today, I seen her in concert in Dublin and she was amazing - one of the best concerts I've ever seen!

I was previously a Britney fan until she went off the rails.
Christina started of as looking like one of the chav wanna-bees who hang around in gangs around shopping centres(malls), then she went all Dirty, Yuck. Looks and music was still not to my taste.
But now, she's looking respectable and sexy and sounding gr8.
I say to the kids who think old style music is sad should take this as a lesson. Alot of old style music is so good it stands the test of time. How much of todays will do the same?
'Nuff said

Regards
A new Christina fan

This song Candyman is a re-working of Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy dating from the 1940s by The Andrews Sisters. If you listen to them both you can see and hear the similarities.

Candyman lyrics Candy man, candy man... Sweet sugar candy man [whispered] I met him out for dinner on a Friday night He really had me working up an appetite He had tattoos up and down his arm There's nothing more dangerous than a boy with charm He's a one stop shop, makes my panties drop He's a sweet-talkin', sugar coated candy man A sweet-talkin', sugar coated candyman Ooo yeah.. He took me to the Spider Club at Hollywood and Vine We drank champagne and we danced all night We shook the paparazzi for a big surprise the gossip tonight will be tomorrow's headline He's a one stop shop, make my cherry pop He's a sweet-talkin', sugar coated candy man A sweet-talkin', sugar coated candyman Se bop bop Hey yeah ... He's a one stop shop, makes my cherry pop He's a sweet-talkin', sugar coated candy man oh A sweet-talkin', sugar coated candyman Woo yeah Well by now i'm getting all bothered and hot When he kissed my mouth he really hit the spot He had lips like sugar cane Good things come to boys who wait Candy man can... I think it's great. It's something different - she's not afraid to do her own thing.

What I really notice is that apart from the Genie in the Bottle thing she never pretended to be a "good girl" unlike someone else and look at the difference now!

I'm normally not a big Christina Aguilera fan, but I really like "Candyman", and it fact, the whole album.

i totally agree with you...there are too many singers and bands that are the same and its refreshing to have singers with a different sound..
