I had a big, dopey black lab named Casper .. he died 2 years ago, and I have missed that pup every second he has been gone. A couple things to share about him that come to mind .. I would bring him to the lake and throw rocks into the water... he would chase the rocks for hours without getting tired of it.. if I threw the rocks too close he would swim underwater chasing them all the way to the bottom. If I was drinking a bottle of soda, I could put the cap on there as tight as humanly possible and throw it to him .. within 2 seconds he would chew the cap off the bottle .. every time. He was almost like a circus dog.. Chasing rabbits.. climbing ladders.. always by my side. Really great pup .. and he was a stray that I got from the animal shelter..
I am missing him today .. So share a story about your pet for me .. I appreciate it.
Thanks in advance for all your entertaining replies.

My 9 year old tabby, D'artagnon, thinks he's part human. He can open doors, even regular doorknobs when they are full closed and latched. He drinks out of glasses on the counter, and sits in my lap when I eat to drag my fork to his mouth with one paw so he can sample my dinner- and he will eat ANYTHING I do. If you talk to him, he'll meow back as many times as you talk. He also knows basic dog commands like come here and get down. He used to play fetch, but we don't have a staircase in my apartment and that was his favorite way to play. If you yell at him, he'll wait for you to walk by and bite your leg.

I rescued him from a shelter as well, when he was about 6 months old. I'm not a cat person in general, but I wouldn't give this little guy up for anything (and with his personality, believe me, I get tons of offers).

I'm sorry you're missing your baby, but maybe it's time to save another life! It's Easter season after all- what better season to give another pup a second chance?

Ah, i am sorry to hear about your dog,its been a year since my favorite pet died too, its rough.

Anyway, i have this kitten now, his name is Crumb, he is a big fluffy all black kitten.
He doesnt have any unique tricks, other than being so cute, everyone who walks by him, pets him. That, and hes' always by my side too. If i kick him out of my room before i go to bed, he will literally bang on the door for hours with out stopping.
i timed him once, when i was just working, and he did that for an hour and a half without stopping.
Maybe thats not amazing to you, but i couldnt believe how persistant he was.

My aussie LOVES the smell of downy! When the dryer is on he rubs himself back and forth against the house by the vent. Then he will dig in the laundry basket until he finds a stray dryer sheet ,put it on the floor then roll on it for hours. I finally just bought a spray that smells a bit like downy, I spray that on the rug and he rolls all over in it. It makes him smell great so I am happy and so is he. If I forget to spray it, he will bark at me and then look at the dresser until I get over to give him his daily "fix", lol!
Sorry you are missing your buddy so badly.. the shelters open tomorrow, maybe it's time to go see who is waiting for you there?
