Two things really. Make sure you are over the age of 16 and always use contraception

If your a normal girl, and haven't yet gone through puberty DON'T Have sex! Your NOT READY!
On average puberty starts anywhere from 9 - 13 years old., and the first sign is the breasts budding and the growth of pubic hair, usually followed by the first period some 12 - 15 months later. If your body hasn't reached this stage of development, then it isn't ready for sex. Physically it isn't mature enough.
Can you get pregnant before your first period the answer is YES. You ovulate (release an egg) 14 days before your period and if you have sex at that time you could fall pregnant. And that includes the time before your first cycle. The egg is the size of a single cell and you may not even be aware its happening.
Then there is the question of your mental maturity. I'm assuming that you are in the age group mentioned above, and you are not ready for the responsibility that sex requires. Could you deal with a baby? Could you get enough money to feed, clothe, and raise a little one? Do you know how to get contraception, what is required to aviod pregnancy and the nasties of sexually transmitted deseases? And do you have the maturity to make decisions about the choice of sexual partners? NO.
Give yourself some more time and don't be in such a hurry to grow up, cause once there there is no way back.
Please talk to an adult you can trust, and tell them what you've asked here, because you need more info than we can give you here.
Take care, B

If you haven't started your period yet. You are to young to have sex. Giving you a period is natures way of letting you know your getting older and more mature. Also you need a year of regular periods before you can predict when you can get pregnant. If you start to soon you will more than likely get pregnant. The prediction method is not very reliable. When you are old enough talk to a doctor and get medicine to stop pregnancy.

Believe it or not there are a lot of things more enjoyable than sex and you can find them at any age.

That doesnt mean you cant have sex. ( unless you havent started cause you are only twelve.) But you still want to use protection and be on birth control. You never know when you will start and if you have sex while your ovaries have just shot out there first egg, you can totally get pregnant.

You haven't mentioned your age, but if your periods haven't yet started, you're probably under 13. Far too young. There's no rush to have sex. You will regret it later

you can get pregnant before you get your first period because in order to have a "period" an egg has to be released and if this egg is not fertilized you get your first period but if you are sexually active you may fall pregnant if contraceptive is not used and therefore you will not know that you had your first period.

Yes. it's always possible for a girl to get pregnant. But if your too young I suggest not do it. Just use condoms if you don't want to get pregnant.
