You don't say how big your turtle is, so it's hard to say if you have enough water. Aquatic turtles need to be able to swim around freely. You do have a way for him to bask, out of the water, I trust?
Yes, turtles and other reptiles do get bored. Any zoologist will tell you that an animal that is physically and mentally challenged will live a longer, healthier life. I put feeder fish, appriariate to their size, in with my aquatic turtles. They have fun chasing them and they even catch a few.
There are no aquatic tortoise, however thieir are both aquatic and land turtles...does that make things any clearer????

Turtle vs. tortoise- you must be Australian? In Australia, MANY aquatic turtles are called tortoises, but in most of the world a tortoise is ONLY a land-dwelling turtle.

No one seems to know why some Aussie turtles are called tortoises- maybe just sheer Aussie upsidedownedness? :-)

As for sharing the space- we usually suggest about 10 gallons of water per inch of turtle, which is close (if I remember my charts) to 10 liters per centimeter. I'd get a LOT more water before I added another turtle.

First of all ....get a bigger tank. If you have two turts then get an even bigger tank. Go buy the biggest tank you can afford. Of course the turt will get bored. Imgine what its life would be like if it wasn't stuck in your 1.5 gallon cage. Get a bigger tank!!!
