I used to live in the country, now in the city. The city is good because of mass transport, everything is accesible by bus etc. and there are a lot more shops. The country is quieter--you can hear yourself think. And you are closer to nature. After 25 yrs in the city, I'd like to move to the country but with train access to a city.
To Skyline: "Trees are all the same"? How long has it been since you've really LOOKED at a tree? (or have you ever?) Each one is unique! And trees are living things that create habitats for other living things. The planet couldn't survive without rainforests and other woods.

I've lived in the city most of my adult life, so I think the country would be a nice change of pace. Actually the beach is my favorite place. I think country life would be peaceful and calm and that's what I need in my life now. The city is fun and exciting with lots to do but I've already experienced that , the nightlife and the fast pace of city life. I would like to try something different now and have a big piece of property for my dogs to run and play in. A place that's not so crowded with traffic jams and stressed out people.

The country seems idyllic but it depends on which part of the country.
I have just moved from a very rural location where there were lots of "shoots" it was horrific.
Then there was the gamekeepers going out at midnight
" Lamping " which is shooting fox and badgers although it is illegal to kill badgers.
I would see birds of prey lying at the roadside, looks at first as if they have been run over but on close inspection you see they have been poisoned, this is done because they may kill the baby pheasants and grouse used in the shoot.
Most badgers you see at the side of the road have suffered the same fate poisoned or trapped then dumped at the side of the road, deer being hunted and shot.
A rich landowner who wounded more than he killed and no good gamekeeper would work for him.
I still live in the country but just outside Edinburgh and it is wonderful, no horrible gamekeepers and no shoot.
I would advise anyone who is thinking of moving to the country to do their homework first.
I prefer the country but without the cruelty.

In the country, the city is only for getting what you need then go home. I couldn't do city life again.

Country, by far. I moved to the city about a year ago and it makes me miserable!!!! I miss people saying hi in the street I miss the grass, I miss the trees, but above all I miss the fact you can't see stars at night. Here there's loads of crime all the people are to scared to even smile at you on the way past, and if you smile at them they look at you like you're mad, there's nothing natural and I find the buildings although some are beautiful, most are oppressive and cut out the daylight, everyone is entitled to daylight and stars!!!
