I've read that the machine will burn a code onto the disc so that you can not share the game with anyone and it will only work on your machine. If that is the case with the UK one also I will buy an xbox 360 espcially with all their much cheaper pre-used titles in the shops. So what if it is not as powerful, there will a port for the game anyway and it will be much cheaper and I can part ex afterwards.

Don't worry if you're thinking about buying a PS3. This whole thing about discs being "chipped" so they only play on one machine, is a total load of rubbish. Any PS3 Blu-ray disc will play on your's, your friends or anyone elses' PS3. You can share the games with absolutely anyone you like. (^-^) Trust me on this one, it was an early rumour which should have been quickly dismissed. Oh and By the way, PS3 first party exclusives cost £39.99. Xbox 360's cost £49.99... Go figure.

I don't have one, but from a quick look; this looks like a rumour.

If Sony did that it would kill the ps3. Imagine how angry parents with broken ps3's would be if all the games wouldn't play on a new machine. Mind you sony don't seem to mind really getting on peoples wick. Look at recent sony copy protection stuff on CD and DVD. You'd think they wanted to kill the business.

Late 2005 Sony debunked the first round of rumours about locking games to a console by saying "this is false speculation and that PlayStation 3 software will not be copy protected to a single machine but will be playable on any PlayStation 3 console."
