When you put your foot down and stand up for yourself. Tell her you got the food under control, but 'no thanks' for the help.

Well I'm over twice your age and my parents still treat me like a child in that I have no rights as an individual and am not allowed to have an opinion of my own, in fact everything I say cannot be worth listening too. I don't live with them have travelled overseas and spent 12 years away. Now we just argue all the time and it really cuts me up.
It's a shame really cos I don't even get chocolate treats any more.
Not sure if your parent's might one day treat you like an adult or if they will be like mine. If you are getting treats and meal cooked for you just enjoy that.

Hey I'm 36 and my son and I live with my mother (for everyones sake) but there are days OMG,
Don't forget your sweater
Make sure you take a coat.
Your going to wear shoes aren't you
Don't get cold you'll end up with the flu.
Don't stay up to late.
Do you have enough money/gas?
Did you lock the door, and don't forget the lights.
So, when will you be home?
And my favorite.... you shouldn't have your window open that wide at night!
I know its only because she "wants to be informed" and she doesn't want to see me get sick (probably because then she'd have to cook her own dinner) and it certainly isn't that she doesn't respect my choices BUT Please!!
I'm an adult and have proficiently raised a son on my own to 15 years old. Its just hard to take some days, like everything.
I just respond with a "yup" or an "I know mom", or "I will", or even an "thats how I like it", I almost wonder sometimes if she does it subconsciously. And I respect her, because she is my mom and she does put up with alot living with us. I don't think any of us would change it though!!!
So I don't know when your parents will treat you like an adult, maybe have a heart to heart with mom, maybe she doesn't really realize she "makes" you feel that way. Either that or suck it up and realize its only when you visit.
Do you remember "Meet the Parents" the way Robert DeNiro and the mom treated "shortstack" when she came home to visit???
Good Luck, and have a nice Easter

you're 13. you're no longer an grownup. they are treating you like a 13 year previous. till you should be taken care of like a greater mature person, do no longer anticipate any exchange merely for the reason which you have been a *gasp* teenager for 300 and sixty 5 days. Age potential no longer something in case you do no longer study something and mature right into a greater responsible person. in case you prefer them to word which you have have been given matured you are going to could do something, you may no longer in basic terms sit down there and say "yet i'm a teenager!" Do chores w/out them asking. do no longer ask for unreasonable issues. do no longer throw fits. Do nicely at school. decrease out the infantile stuff. actually ASK your mothers and dads for greater duty. edit - the 1st poster makes a brilliant element. maximum of no longer each baby under the age of 18 or perhaps 20 thinks that their mothers and dads are "propose." you don't understand 'til you're older that they have got been doing the excellent element b/c they love you. they are your mothers and dads 1st and your friends 2d. undergo in recommendations that. ___________________________ asserting which you will mattress in "20" does no longer propose something till all of us understand what timezone you're in, baby. a real looking bedtime for a 13 year previous is 9 or 10pm on the latest.

If you don't want them to treat you like a child don't act like a child. You are a grown adult. If your parents have raised you well then they should respect the decisions that you make in life. Tell them how you feel, and don't let put you in the position where you fell like you are comprising yourself.
Take Care xx

No my parents treat me like the adult i am.
Tell your parents that you are not a baby anymore and you would appreciate it if they would stop acting as if you are 12.

Visa a verse kid. My kid thinks I have the mind of a child.
He keeps asking," Where's his Easter Basket? And who ate all my chocolates?" (Whistle as walk away, hands in my pocket)
Happy Easter!
Boo Hoo Kid, the bunny coming again next year. (Hope he brings more of them chocolate eggs with cream in the middle)
